[Debussy, a French composer active from the late 19th to the late 20th century, created many original works as an "impressionistic" composer. The works on this album, including the symphonic poem "The Sea," which is his masterpiece that represents three seascapes in sound, all have a somewhat fantastical atmosphere. The album is performed by Dutoit and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in a vivid and masterful performance.
