Hervé Nichet & Conseil Spirituel re-release Grétry's musical tragedy "Andromache"! Hervé Nicquet and Conseil Spirituel have been highly acclaimed for their exceptional musicianship, demonstrating their outstanding performance skills in Handel's 2008 tour of Japan, which shocked Japanese audiences with its large ensemble, and in their 2010 production of Purcell's opera "King Arthur". With the cooperation of the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles and the Palazzetto Bourg Xanet, they have been reviving and re-enacting the buried musical tragedies of the French Baroque (tragedy lyric), and they have recorded a new recording of André-Erneste-Modeste Grétry's (1741-1813) "Tragédie Lyrique" in 2009, released the following year. The disc of André-Ernest-Modeste Grétry's (1741-1813) musical tragedy "Andromache" (GCD921620), which had been long out of print and unavailable, is now being reissued in a new edition! Andromache" is the only musical tragedy composed by Grétry, who was born in Liège, Belgium and left a significant contribution to French opera in the late 18th century, and is based on "Andromache" by Jean Racine (1639-1699), a famous 17th century French writer.The life of Grétry, who enjoyed the patronage of Marie Antoinette and was decorated with the Legion of Honor by Napoleon, and the story of Andromache, a character from Greek mythology and Greek tragedy, have been little known, as if at odds with the high publicity of the story. The "music" part of the musical tragedy has been beautifully revived by Niquet & Conseil Spirituel, who have successfully revived the musical tragedies of Marais, Detoche, and Lully. Tokyo M Plus
